Paris in the 1930s ....................
I can have endless daydreams to this song..dancing with my love under the Eiffel Tower...Marlene serenading us at a fancy French restaurant..endless possibilities =) *sighs*
Falling in love again...

endlich mal die deutsche version..
Happened to be reading Bill Mauldin's book Up Front. He mentioned some American soldiers singing this in a bar in France. Some partisans got upset, so the Americans apologized and bought them drinks.
Great song ! Love it !
German version hands down
Evet çok güzel, çocukluğuma gidiyorum..
There's a polish band called Lili Marlene:-)
Thank You, LondonLouis.....I will follow your tip. This was one of my father's favorite songs. He fought in North Africa during the war.
Agree that the German version is better - and you can find it on last.fm - spelled Lili Marleen. Such an evocative song - to my generation, it was a staple in any movie about the war in North Africa. Both sides listened to it.
Wonderful. Marlene Dietrich , sensual, lyrical and with an accordion background too.
I do like the German version a little better.
this song is a masterpiece.
