Lol do you still believe that Hogarth would make music like something from Fish era? Never! There are two different bands, there are two different musicians - h and Fish. In the context of h' music Marillion is a great band with such an amazing sound and lyrics. You must be thankful that Steve was agree to play old stuff on shows. Forget Fish years! They are in past far away and never will come again. Amen. FEAR is amazing, it seems like they took the experience of last four albums and on that base created a big masterpiece.
No, it's a different band now. I just wish they did some element of prog again or that they wouldn't be referred to as prog band since they have obviously moved to different direcions for a while now. But sorry, did not want to offend any new-age M fans. Hell, I'm gonna see them in Barcelona next summer myself.
Gosh!... Prog is not 7/8 or something like. Prog is the phylosophy, it's a view. Pink Floyd is described as a prog band too, but their music has no Prog stereotypes like 7/8 and etc. The heart of PF music stays in its scale. There is a same situation with h' Marillion. Prog has no frames! Progressive music was named progressive not because of a musical progression. It was named progressive because prog musicians erase traditional musical forms. That's Prog, no other way! PS. And why go to the concert if it's not Prog? Ha-ha!
because the Tull is gonna be there and it's summer and it's Barcelona. And i get the whole "prog is a philosophy not a specific music or sound" but comparing new-age Marillion with PF is a bit of a joke really
Fugazi can't be beaten, but.. we sometimes should get rid of the past when scoring new albums. Too many brilliant albums are underrated because of this behaviour. And for me, even if different, F E A R is just brilliant. Subtle and mesmerizing. I haven't listened that good prog-rock album this year.
Ok now, first time I listen to Marillion and i decided to pick up Radiation cause 1998 was so important for me in music, I give it a spin and I'm simply blown away by its beauty, then i come here and find out Marllion fans consider it their worst one or close to it, damnit other albums must be beyond my imagination!
"On "F.E.A.R." Marillion returns to the 'progressive rock' album format, but musically it's the same Marillion we all love; melodic, at places atmospheric, velvety crafted and with that sweet vocal melodies.
It's a strong, palatable new offering from these great British musicians." <----------- So True... :)
On The New Kings h still proves he is a powerful social lyricist. Another great song that shows the current situation in the world, especially in Russia. Epic! Looking forward to the new album. They posted the album trailer on their youtube channel today. I love all the pieces of music they used in trailer. I think the album will be a masterpiece, like always.
Great album "Sounds That Can't Be Made" from 2012. Especially the title track, "Pour My Love" and "The Sky Above The Rain". Marillion is still in good form, and on July 25 I will have a chance to listen to them live. Greetings :)
sorry my bad french
