I like how this song is MGMT's own version of Dan Treacy's "I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives." - A song about an artist who once had great acclaim and popularity but is now down on his luck, spending days in the shadows, somewhere in England. But is he really "down" or is he living a quiet, enjoyable, better life? Both songs convey the idea. The lyric "And I don't know where he lives" seems to be a direct reference to Treacy's song.
pure genius sonically. If you listen closely, you can hear so many unique and different sounds throughout this song. In particular, you can hear what sounds like hand-claps during the "..he made his mind up" verse. Subtle, but oh so effective..
