About an hour ago I heard "Crypt of the Nameless" on vinyl. According to the liner notes it's a new recording from 2014 with four band members. You have not heard true hopelessness until you have heard this song. It's worth the purchase. As a bonus, the artwork is amazing. I bought the matching hoodie as well.
Has anyone heard the recently released track "Crypt of the Nameless" from the new Crypt of Postmortem Ceremonials split? Wondering if it's worth 42 euros plus international shipping. I also never heard of the other band. In any case, the artwork is on point.
They were ahead of their time... how long before time catches up? I noticed the last member actually doing something (Aran/Trist) has mysteriously disappeared from Lychgate. It's a shame but at least we got all these great albums to enjoy over and over.
Cold Dimensions plans to release special edition of Ars Moriendi in the future with 3 different versions on the same release, the remaster, the original and an unreleased early version. Pretty awesome. Look forward to it.
I'm not sure why, but I don't think I'll ever love any of this band's work more than Andacht. Might be a nostalgia/experience related thing, but the atmosphere the band produces in that album is unmatched. Hoagascht comes closest in my opinion, but still far from it. That said, everything this band produced is fantastic. Definitely underrated, bands like LA got me into the more modern American atmospheric / shoegaze influenced bands that are becoming more popular these days, fans of those bands definitely need to check out this stuff.
My Lunar Aurora ink:
huh there are reissues of Ars Moriendi, Elixir Of Sorrow, & Of Stargates and Bloodstained Celestial Spheres, cool. http://www.cold-dimensions.de/ if you need to buy the cds or lps in usa I can give you a link. all those releases were impossible to get 7 years ago
They felt their music was "out of sync" with these times. I don't think I totally "get" their statement, but the basic idea is that they don't feel the need for LA's existence anymore, which is more than enough reason to call it quits. Let's hope for other musical endeavors.
@ Elohinen: I hear you. Zyklus is such a powerful album. One of those albums that has to be heard in one run.. Whenever you listen to it, there is something new to be found in it. Too bad it isn't part of the vinyl-reissue batch of albums (Of Stargates...-12"/Elixir of Sorrow-12"/A Haudiga Fluag-single) that are pending for release.. Zyklus would sound amazing on vinyl.
