Michigan has long been a hotbed for up-and-coming rock bands who find success with a unique approach to the most popular genre in the world. Whether you’re talking about classic artists like Bob Seger, who brought the working man’s woes to the mainstream, or more modern heavy acts like We Came As Romans and I Prevail, the mitten state has served as a launching pad for some of the most influential musicians of modern times. Only time will tell if Grand Rapids group LOKELLA will reach the same level of influence, but after booking some high level shows, most notably Souled Out in Poughkeepsie, NY before even releasing a single track, certainly they are well on their way to getting there.
After the release of the fully DIY EP ‘The Worst Of’, in which the band fully produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered their own work, they are now set to release the follow up, ‘Shedding Skin’ on August 11th, 2017. An album that was produced, recorded, and mixed by Rick King of King Sound Studio, and then mastered by Mike Kalajian (Circa Survive, Saosin, Straylight Run) of Rogue Planet Mastering.
With an ever evolving sound and unique approach, you better not sleep on LOKELLA.
