Sex was the second and final single to be released from Loïs Lane's third album
Precious, and was released only in the duo's home country of the Netherlands in Summer 1992, a few months after the album. The single contained an edit of the track, as well as two remixes not available elsewhere. It reached position 48 in the Dutch Mega Top 50 singles chart.
The song was originally written by Prince and was released as the b-side on The Scandalous Sex Suite, the maxi-single of Scandalous!, the fourth single from Prince's eleventh album Batman, the companion album to the hit movie Batman. Prince later gave a remixed version of the track to Loïs Lane.
While specific recording dates are unknown, basic tracking took place in Summer 1989, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Additional recording for Loïs Lane's version took place in early 1992 at Paisley Park Studios (during the same set of sessions that produced The Continental, Damn U, The Flow, 3 Chains O' Gold, Born 2 B.R.E.E.D., With This Tear and Qualified).
