LoOmis is currently an experimental analog recording project from Patrick Bailey. Bailey may be known for his guitar work in New Orleans based instrumental math rock band Smiley With A Knife and Static Masks.
LoOmis is described as lo fi mathy indie rock. LoOmis has also been described as Hazewave. Taking influences from such acts as Don Caballero, King Crimson, Tera Melos, Mogwai, Prefuse 73 & Make Believe, LoOmis blends such genres as math rock, post rock, electronic, down tempo & indie rock with lo fi recording techniques. Starting with 2007’s ‘A Momentary Distraction’ LoOmis creates each song from scratch. Usually starting with a drum beat or sample. Later guitars, vocals, melodica and various noises are written or improvised during the time of recording. The most recent full length ‘A Solitary Attraction’ was released in January 2011. A 3 song EP ‘A Dog & His Boy’ was released 2 months later followed by the 'Vellocet' EP in August 2011 and "Melt Away" EP in January 2012. Shark Water is the most recent full length, released August 2018.
