I used to think Johnny Feelgood was about a guy, but now when I hear the lyrics I think cocaine and what her experience was like, "Johnny" being the drug. "Johnny" makes her feel good about herself/moderation/doses large enough to kill/I liked it more and more etc etc... thoughts? Same with Johnny Sunshine, could be about a guy but also could be interpreted as the devastation as a result of a bad addiction(?)
Which reminds me, I remember reading an interview from a couple of years ago saying that she was working on a new album that she was really happy with and she wasn't gonna let anyone else fuck it up. Anyone know anything about this, any new info on another record?
Guyville > Whip-Smart > Space Egg > Funstyle > Somebody's > Liz Phair imo. Whip-Smart is totally underrated. Listen to that album in bed at night with the lights off, its bliss (as is Guyville of course, which is nothing short of a masterpiece)
Sheryl Crow's music is much more pop friendly. The production on "Guyville" and "Whip-Smart" is basically lo-fi, when compared to mainstream albums (and let's think about THE LYRICS). Having said that, I think both Sheryl and Liz are amazing in what they do.
Liz is one of my favorite female singer songwriters ever.i agree exile is a classic album but i like some songs from the last few albums .she does sound like Sheryl Crow but rocks harder Sheryl Crow is a pop singer mostly .Liz is very talented she is smart writes catchy hooks and is beautiful the perfect female in my book!
