Dazed and Confused is a song written in 1967 by American singer-songwriter Jake Holmes. The Yardbirds, who Jimmy Page played guitar for, began to develop a new arrangement for Dazed and Confused while on a 1967 tour of the United States. It became the 4th track on side one of Led Zeppelin’s self-titled debut album, which was released on January 12, 1969 in the US and March 31, 1969 in the UK.
On the morning of July 20, 1973 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel Led Zeppelin’s manager, Peter Grant, decided given the success of the current 1973 North American Tour to take director Joe Massot up on his offer to make a film of the band. Massot assembled a crew in time for Led Zeppelin's Baltimore performances starting on July 23. He then filmed the bands concert performances at Madison Square Garden in New York City on the nights of July 27 to 29. The Song Remains the Same was born.
The Song Remains the Same film premiered in 1976 in New York on October 20, in Los Angeles on October 22, and in London, England on November 4. The Song Remains the Same soundtrack was released on October 20, 1976.
