2011 – present (7 years)
Lamúria Abissal is a band formed by Iuri Calado 'Thy Despair' a.k.a. 'Reverand Despair' on vocals/lyrics and Caio Ramon 'Pale' on instrumental in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the year 2011. Both have been friends since childhood. In the words of Thy Despair the name of the band expresses "the lament of those who never saw the light, of the life, or whatever". Soon in the first demo is captured this, lamurias coming from the most obscure internal abyss. With a brute sound, a little stoned but with striking riffs, intense vocals with much suffering, lyrics that come from the bottom of a chest torn by life, following with a unique cohesion that dragged through all the later works, marked "Cânticos de Um Além Abismo" demo released in February 2012 by Depressive Illusion Records label in 100 copies on cassette tape. It was re-released by the label Rigorism Production in the same year, with limited edition of 50 copies in CD.
In October the first album is released by the same Rigorism Production label, "The Last Rest is Finally Awarded" carries the same intensity of Demo, a chaos of the deepest and most destructive feelings, a harsh, powerful instrumental with corrosive guitars, creating a atmosphere for letters with authentic emotions and true poems. Letters that are maintained with influences of the ultra-romanticism, a movement of century XIX of Portuguese language known for being obscure and self-destructive. The themes involve disappointments, rejections, existential emptiness, hatred, pain, suffering, isolation, mental fatigue, depression, suicide and death. The cover of the album is the photograph of the supposed ghost of the Waverly Hills Sanitarium in Louisville, USA. According to the legends, the specter of the nurse who would have committed suicide can be seen wandering in the corridors of the hospital. Far from paranormal stories, the cover makes a good reference to the obscure, the unknown, the insanity, the dread of living, survive or merely existing.
In March of 2014 is released in the platform of digital music bandcamp, by No Remorse Records the split "Spilled into This Disgrace of World" along with the band Born an Abomination.
In April 2016 the EP "Passagem para o Além Abismo" is also released, also in the bandcamp, and in July it is released on CD limited to 50 copies by the Cvlminis label. The songs keep the pendulum between a quiet part sonority with use of keyboards, alternating with a brutal weight of agonizing guitars and vocals of pure hatred and suffering. There is a cover very well interpreted for "Eternal Beauty of Trees" by the Chilean folk band doom Uaral.
In July 2017 is digitally released by Order Noktondurner seal the Split "The Queen is Always Impeccable" with the bands Nuktrukt and Раскаянье. The Anesthesia and Excelsiori tracks inserted in this split show a more consistent, balanced and better produced sound.
In October of the same year is released the second album "Eternal Autumn of the Soul" by Sinistrion Distro. The sound evolution here is very perceptive, cleaner guitars oscillating with the distorted ones, keyboards creating an intense atmospheric wall, drums with greater speed while being cadenciada, a melodic line by the guitar extends for some songs, resulting an instrumental as expressive as the lyric part.
The band is a strong representative of Depressive Black Metal in the country, with the characteristic of singing songs in their own language. The Lamúria Abissal carries a good amount of fans, and they are always giving positive feedbacks the same. Also was and still is great influential of other projects and bands og DSBM in the country. Pale has other side projects, such as the neoclassical Pale's Winter, the brutal death metal Leviathan Necrosis and the dark experimental/ambient 死 .rar.
Live presentations of Lamúria Abissal have been considered throughout the country, but for now nothing has been confirmed.
On the band's official Facebook page there is a frequent interaction with posting poems.
