I honestly can't think of a single Lacuna Coil album I actually dislike, and that's rare for me with *any* artist, but awesome all the same. There's the odd song I haven't enjoyed much on record, that I've had to hear live before I really warmed to it (Our Truth particularly comes to mind there), but somehow I always have in the end. Been a fan since I was 17, & I can't see that ever changing.
Black Anima is a great, complex album. Not better than Delirium imo, but still very dynamic and a good blend of the old and the new LC. Bonus tracks are even better than some songs on the regular BA version. Through The Flames is 10/10. Veneficium, Anima Nera, The End is All I Can See, Sword of Anger and Black Feathers are just right behind it. The only song that I really, really dislike is Reckless. The overall grade I'd give is 8.5/10.
Black Anima has a very mature sound, nostalgic harmonies reminds me Broken Crown Halo, while the dynamics are massive like on Karmacode/Delirium. Overall they found the perfect blend, gothic vibes and heavy parts (Andrea is so good on this album). Black Anima is also one of their darkest album. Latin parts and solos on Veneficium are amazing. 8/10.
New stuff is better than Broken Crown Halo and Shallow Life, but not the best thing they done since Comalies for sure. I'm fine with fact that they not return to gothic metal (i have zero hopes), but past three albums are weak even for nu or alternative metal imho.
Their last worthwhile album was "Karmacode", they had signs of improvement on "Dark Adrenaline" but in general since 13 years they release shitful nu-rock albums and try to be Italian version of Korn. Don't waste your time on this, there are lots of better bands with chicks on vocals to check out.
