This self-empowerment tune was informed by Perry's dissolved marriage to Russell Brand. "I lost myself in fear of losing you," the Santa Barbara native sings, before later concluding, "I know I have to love myself, the way I want you to love me." Perry described this as a song "about loving yourself the way you want to be loved."
The racing Electro-Pop track was produced in Stockholm by Bloodshy of Miike Snow, whom Perry has wanted to work with ever since he helmed Britney Spears' "Toxic."
