• Kamelot, Delain, & Eklipse - San Francisco - September 20th, 2013

    25 Sep 2013, 02:51 by jukkakhan

    Artist: Kamelot
    Supporting: Delain and Eklipse
    Date: September 20th, 2013
    Location: San Francisco
    Venue: Slim's
    Tour: Silverthorn North America 2013

Man, my concert calendar this year is really empty... Kamelot gladly fixed that though! It had been a while since I've been at Slim's, and I forgot how cramped and stuffy it can get. But then again, I do like that smaller, more intimate feel of the show. Still, it was a very energetic and enjoyable performance by all!

Leading the pack tonight was a German band called Eklipse. I'm a fan of both Kamelot and Delain, so that was enough to sell me on the concert alone, which meant I didn't really bother looking into the other opening band. So much to my surprise (and probably many other people that night), this band was actually a string quartet! Not just any ol' string quartet, but an all-female string quartet, with four very fashionable, beautiful, and talented ladies! Apparently they provided the string parts for…

    The Imaginaerum Tour 2012

Random thoughts as I reflect back on the previous night's action...

This was my first time seeing Kamelot live, after having been introduced to them a couple of years ago. I had become accustomed to Roy Khan's voice on the songs that I have heard, but the new singer, Tommy Karevik, had a great handle on all of the tracks they played. Really enjoyed their set and has encouraged me to listen them more frequently, and also anticipating their latest album's release.

Nightwish, as expected, were without Anette Olzen after parting ways a couple days before the show. To this effect, their set had a lot of songs that were more centered around Marco's vocals. The inclusion of some of the softer songs (Crow, Owl & Dove, Islander) was a nice touch. Love the instrumental Last of the Wilds. I thought Floor Jansen (ex-After Forever) brilliantly stepped in to the female lead and absolutely killed it on both Nemo (an acoustic rendition, no less) and Song of Myself. …

  • LEAVES' EYES & Kamelot @ProgPower USA, Sept. 10, 2010

Fri 10 Sep – ProgPower XI USA

Believe it or not, after four years on last.fm this is my first concert review ever (aside from this which doesn't count). And I'm doing it os_teriyaki style which means MASSIVE TL;DR ABOUT EVERYTHING except I'm kicking it to the NEXT LEVEL because I'm also chronicling the EPIC AND RATHER EVENTFUL JOURNEY or at least what I still remember of it as this was over two weeks ago -_- (EDIT now almost a month ago cuz this took [album artist=theater of tragedy] to write)

To preface, I'm not really a fan of power metal or progressive music; I haven't bothered to listen to much of either but my current impression of power metal is "sometimes fun but often boring" and my impression of progressive music is "sometimes amazing, often boring, sometimes annoying," and definitely requires a time commitment to appreciate that I'm usually unwilling to give. (Check out my Dream Theater plays... how are they even in my library? I must have fallen asleep with last. …
  • Concierto de Kamelot en Sala Heineken, Madrid

    5 Apr 2010, 22:15 by GwenScathach

Dom 4 Abr – Easter Metal Fest

  • Kamelot, 28th March 2010, with Leaves' Eyes and Adagio

    30 Mar 2010, 15:11 by Oshunai

Well its now a couple of days after the perfection that was Sun 28 Mar – Kamelot, Leaves' Eyes, Adagio and now my neck has stopped hurting and my voice has started to come back it's time to put my review hat on. Not going to lie, this review is going to be hugely positive, as I really really enjoyed myself at the best gig of 2010 so far for me.

For some reason for the last couple of years Kamelot always seem to turn up in London on the 27th-29th of March weekend, and just like last year's excellent event with Dream Evil and Amberian Dawn I decided to attend. In any case, I have to admit I was hugely excited even before I reached the queue for the Koko, a fantastic venue in good old Camden Town. Anyway, got in, got a tshirt and so began the gig..

First up we had Adagio, who I'd seen before and had been disapointed at. The sound quality was abit of a hash, the guitars and vocals were fairly inaudible but all the same they gave a credible performance, and a far superior one to last time. …

As I said in an earlier review of a Kamelot-album: I'm a fanboy so I can't promise that this will be an objective review. But should a review be objective, I mean: it's my opinion right? Anyway, on to the review:
  • "Epilogue" on Cleveland's October Kamelot Show!

    12 Nov 2008, 05:43 by sablespecter

Fri 17 Oct – Kamelot, Edguy

It's kinda funny how this blogging thing works: you get a few interested readers and then the thing turns into a hungry beast that demands to be fed! I've had a number of people in RL and here waiting patiently for a recap of the Kamelot show - already almost a month ago - and since I already have up the review of Sunday night's In Flames show, I had better get this one up, too, before they pillory me! So here it is, much-delayed. Thanks for waiting & reading!

I'll get this out of the way first: I hate seeing a show at Peabody's. They CANNOT start a show on time. Or maybe it's just when Kamelot plays there. I've only actually been to Peabody's to see them since I don't generally see the really small club shows. But the last time we saw them, they started really late. We thought that was because Kamelot had had problems getting their gear to town, but this makes twice. My buddy even called ahead the day before to ask for sure what time the show would start…
  • (#[1-9])The story behind...

    20 Jul 2008, 10:00 by enlill

Music is a way for the soul to speak. But not only it's its voice but also it can cause the soul to speak. This is what I want to tell because of and thru music. It might not always be what those who created it exactly ment...

In short, this is a little bit of why those not other songs are where they are on my top listened. This my way of showing a bit of myself to you.

#1 Disturbed - Inside the Fire
What is hell? It's a place where you have no hope. It's a place where you feel only fear. It's a place ... when you no longer care ...
When you are at the hell's gate think about those who care for you and the pain they will feel if you leave this world.

    #2 Kamelot - Solitaire
Do you hear the silence? Look for it inside you. What does it mean? That it's coming...
#3 Kamelot - Rule the World
Even tho you often don't feel it, the power is there inside you ... waiting for you to discover it. …
