And the funny thing is, I don't even hate the song, I get it's supposed to be a parody (the word "gnarly" literally means "bad/challenging" lol), but I (along with many other people) still strongly believe they could've been given something that showcases their talent better

Still, it would have been nice to have non-cringy lyrics; the actual instrumental and chorus are pretty good, i would deffo listen to the song if i couldn't understand what they were saying. I just can't get past the verses. Lara's part in verse 2 was so painful to listen to; the lyrics were so bad.

ngl i do kinda fw the song when it comes to the beats, instrumental and chorus like its kinda camp but im not a fan of the lyrics and verses. i think thats what made the song like, 'objectivity' dislikable. the line distribution is also not great and the song is short but that doesnt surprise me that much. i dont mind concept and genre changes, i actually really like those, but yeah no this song isnt great imo and thats okay but i am just confused about who decided to make those lyrics and verses. it feels like a bit of a waste because katseye are talented as hell and besides the choreo i dont see much of that being used in the song. if we ignore lyrics and everything i think this song could grow on me cause i like basically everything but; and i think many people agree, it just could've been a lot better!! BUT i am curious about the other songs so i will wait for those. all of this is no shade to the katseye girlies ofc, i love them

the thing about camp is, when you try to "make" it, you stop "being" it. the larger than life component is meant to be an embodied extension of one's character. one is the artiste, and blurs the line between work and artificer by also becoming the embodiment of one's art. this is why early lady gaga was - for the most part - perfect performance art.
