Idk what it is about John Grant, but every new album always takes me a while to get into, before I finally realize that it's just as amazing as the previous ones. Love is Magic is no different. So good.
So I did see him live a few months ago - and HOLY SHIT, it was probably the best live performance I've ever seen. Laughed and cried in probably equal measure -- and you could really just feel the love for him in the room. He's awesome and somehow quirkily adorable (his pinterest addiction, his awkward dances, the tiny Godzilla on his piano...). So so powerful in person (that. voice!), and his band were great. If you get the chance to see him, do it.
"Queen of Denmark" and "Pale Green Ghosts" albums set the bar very high but I think he's done it again! The album grows on me with every listen. My favs so far: "You and Him"," Global Warming" and "Geraldine".
