A LISBOA is the name of this Joana Reais Ensemble’s record dedicated to the city that brought them together, inspires and moves them, constituting itself as a sample of the group’s new repertoire that goes from jazz to Brazilian music, from fado to flamenco, from traditional African rhythms to blues and that serves as a presentation card to Joana’s universe where cats, lollipops, love stories, sardines, the Tagus river and much more have their address.

«The house of Joana is over the sea, over the salt of the unconsciousness that exists in the sea. Joana’s house is a bridge that sits on top of the Atlantic Ocean and where Portugal’s Portuguese enlaces with Brazilian’s Portuguese. Joana’s voice chews the samba that dances on the streets of Lisbon while playing with the fado that came in suitcases from the other side of the ocean. Joana’s eyes have room for whole countries, for whole journeys and for journeys that are yet to be. There’s room for cats, typical of the Atlantic ports, always waiting for the voyage that is yet to come. In Joana’s voice, there’s this need to be joyful here, tomorrow and afterwards and, in her songs, Joana is able to enlighten.» − Catarina Vasconcelos, film director.
