Vibrant, and inventive Westchester, NY singer/songwriter Jesse Carsten makes utterly baffling myopic “rock” music (inward sparking), and has been doing so for several years. A Truly performative musician, producing startlingly jaunty punkish tunes (a guy in necessary denial, who likes grocery shopping ALOT) intoning pained melodic sounds meant to stir something strange in you. (Oh look he's wriggling on the floor, mumbling into the microphone about healthfood, performance art, and gender issues) Joined by friends, the sound fills out (We made a band, and it is so fun, we call it 'Jesse Carsten Band' – we just couldn't come up with anything else, and people seemed to like it), allowing for surprising, subtle improvisatory music to occur, brimming with intensity and volume. From acapella songs about solitude, to electric jam-out band rants about Yoko's psychological positioning following John's death, Jesse's music's got it all! * This is all a lie (words can seem so meaningless). Jesse is really great though, you should go to his next show.
