New York producer Jeao comes to the Colombian house and techno label
Colombian label Fine Beats Records make their first-ever appearance in iDJ with this excellent single-tracker from the New York house producer known simply as Jeao.
The little blurb on Jeao's Soundcloud page says: "You will hear some house, tech-house, progressive house, and deep house. ENJOY!!!" In the case of Changing, it's the latter two styles whose influence predominates. Opening with a percussive intro before introducing a warm but understated bassline, echoing single-note keyboard stabs and the chopped-up vocal snips that are effectively used as another instrument, it sits right on the deep/prog cusp and as such will appeal to fans of both sub-genres.
There's no great reinventing of the wheel going on here, admittedly. But Changing has the kind of "dreamy but energetic" feel that makes it a dead cert for sundown plays on a certain Mediterranean island this summer.
