Biography
There are 2 bands with the name Iconoclasts:
1) Iconoclasts were a short-lived six-piece band from Lisbon, Portugal, formed by Diogo Carneiro, Pipa Marinho, Sérgio Dinis, Vitor Azevedo, Ricardo Ramos and Pedro Coelho. They were active from 2008 to 2012, releasing one EP and one full-lenght album, Mt. Erikson (2011).
Drawing inspiration from new British indie acts such as Foals, along with American underground legends such as Pixies and Sonic Youth, Iconoclasts managed to melt these influences into their music in a way that is not immediately recognizable as tributary yet still manages to be noticeable. Live, At The Drive-In’s influence shined through as the band unleashed all its energy in their unrestrained, intense sets that seldom leaved anyone indifferent to what was going on onstage.
2) Iconoclasts were an all female, five piece punk group who hail from Merseyside, England. They consisted of Mandy- Lead vox, Dibble- guitar, Spekki- drums, Moge- bass & backing vocals and Linda on lead guitar.
the name 'Iconoclasts' means 'imagebreaker' - coming from two Greek words 'Eikon'=image and 'Klastes'=breaker. The Iconoclasts were a religious movement from around the 8th A.D. they believed that Icon worship was wrong and fought to abolish it. They were vicious and violent, causing vandalism to churchs and cathedrals, and also caused politically backed riots. Many prominent Bishops and Priests were Iconoclasts.
