"hopeless fountain kingdom" is the second studio album from Ashley Frangipane, aka Halsey, born in 09/29/1994 in New Jersey, USA.
According to Halsey, the kingdom is a limbo: a place between heaven and hell. The album is based on the play "Romeo & Juliet", by William Shakespeare, and tells the story of two star-crossed lovers (Luna and Solis) from different houses: Aureum and Angelus. They found love in a city so empty of it, but because of that their love could never align. In the end, they take their lives because of hurt and complication. The whole album is about a breakup Halsey went through recently with Lido. The concept talks about how Halsey lost a lot of herself in the relationship so when she broke up, she tried to rediscover that. Hence in "100 Letters", she writes "I don't let him touch me anymore" signifying her newly found independence. , She said the music videos would tell us more about the story of Luna and Solis, the main characters in this album, where as the lyrical content belongs to Halsey's experience.
Featuring Quavo, Lauren Jauregui (from 5th Harmony) and Cashmere Cat, Halsey's sophomore album shows us the power of her voice, wich she decided not to use in her first album, "Badlands" (2015). "hopeless fountain kingdom" went #1 in the worldwide iTunes chart, and also in many other countries around the world.
