Biography

Große Freiheit was a NDW musical group from Hamburg, Germany formed in 1980 by Martin George Grunwaldt (synthesizer, vocals) and Michael Wentzel. In 1981 Johann Bley (drums) and Hans-Jürgen Piel (bass) were added to the band's lineup.

The band recorded for Zickzack Records and released "Espressomaschine" in 1982, which received favourable reviews from Sounds magazine. BBC deejay John Peel often played their "Ein Mann zuviel" single, whch he was fond of. The band split in 1988.
