Golestan is more than a music band. It is where Persian and Hungarian roots in terms of historical past rejoin and find one-another.
April 11. 2001 is the day when few friends got together to perform an old folklore musical piece in the City of Pécs. In this day for the first time in history a photo exhibition (introducing KHONJ) was arranged in the city of Pécs, Hungary. The opening ceremony was honored by presence of Mr. Rasool Mohajer the Iranian Ambassador in Budapest who hold a speech on Persian culture and cross-cultural links between Hungarian and Persian nations. This was the first-ever public appearance of few musicians who got the name GOLESTAN later on. The Members of Golestan at that time were: Dr. Khonji, Bogárdi Aliz, Babarci Bulcsú, Kerekes Kornél and Molnár András.

Golestan, afterwards started its rehearsals aiming to record the very first Khonji (Achom) language-based music album.
Soon public attention was drawn to the band's activity demanding a live performance of the songs! 2001, December 12. was the historical day when the Persian-Achom group presented his Achom song collection in Pécs. More concerts were performed later on in various places and occasions!
In the spring of 2003 The very first Khonji (Achomi) album called MAJAR ( meaning all of screams in Achom language, and meaning Hungarian in Hungarian language) was released in Dubai which shocked many fans of this Persian subculture. BBC radio broadcasted an interview with Dr. Khonji announcing the surprise of production the very first Khonji album in Hungary!
Release of the album also was published in the media and news in Hungary as well.
Today, after relatively short trip, Golestan is proud of having many fans.
Golestan has been playing Achom songs since after and is working on his second album to be released coming spring, hopefully.
