California Native, Gina Villalobos is an American rock, folk and alt country Singer and Songwriter. Villalobos became one of the most acclaimed new artists in the alternative country community with her breakthrough album, 2005’s Rock N Roll Pony when legendary BBC disc Jockey Bob Harris called it “a contender for album of the year. The album was hailed as a skilfull amalagon of indie rock, country and pop…deifies easy classification…”ACOUSTIC GUITAR MAGAZINE. Her follow up release, “Miles Away” increased her profile and cemented the album as “…one of those recordings you’ll be playing in a decade, it’s timeless and combines every element that makes a recording classic…it doesn’t get much better than this. “ PASTE MAGAZINE. Her 4th solo album "Days On Their Side” (released July 14th, 2009), finds Villalobos’ compositions coming off the speakers like Cracker Jack Surprises that reveal a new depth with the slightest shift in light" "Days On Their Side” takes the Lucinda Williams/ Sheryl Crow model to a new level (And it's about time someone did.) AMERICAN SONGWRITER MAGAZINE

For those who have yet to experience Villalobos, it is enlightening to consider her in the company of artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Patty Smith, or Lucinda Williams – people so ill-fitted to categories that they had to carve out spaces of their own. But such comparisons are also misleading, because individualism is as essential as talent for admission to this group.

Gina’s nothing if not dead serious. Her music is deeply rooted in time, place, and history. She’s the real thing: an artist, someone who can show you where you are.
‘Villalobos is definitely a unique talent to watch. ‘Rock 'N' Roll Pony is amazing. With solid, sing-a-long hooks and sharp lyrical insight, this self-penned, self-produced set stands up equally against the disc's sole cover….Gina Villalobos is blessed with a resonant voice that is heartbreakingly fraught with emotion on the brink.’ Miles Of Music (July 2004)

‘…these are serious songs, redemptive songs, songs you just don’t just want to hear but need to hear. It’s dirty country rock spiked with sunny CA post punk pop…’ Playback: St. Louis Pop Culture (May 2004) “…critics louded villalobos for her raw emotional intensity… patti smith backed by “exile on main street”- era rolling stones. chrissie hynde knocking around with uncle tupelo don gerard- news gazette, chapmaign il (feb 2004)

Villalobos combines a lightly raspy singing style, confessional lyrics, and a sometimes melancholy, sometimes inspirational sound that shimmers with slide guitar and her laid-back strumming…’ Guardian: The San Francisco Bay guardian (May 2004)
