Gemma Garmeson sweetly sings funny, quirky, bittersweet folk ballads about love, life, wooden spoons and flip-flops.
Her delicate and insightful songs are like stories that shine a searchlight on lives filled with love, confusion and delusion. Gemma's witty and unique perspective gathers the audience in and holds them enraptured. Her soaring and heartfelt vocals intertwine with her catchy and jaunty melodies.
Gemma will wake you up and make you smile, it's a rare delight to find a new voice so original and engaging.
Inspired by the New York Anti-folk scene she discovered at the Lower East Side’s Sidewalk Café during a 2001 visit, and in particular by the likes of Jeffrey Lewis, Kimya Dawson and Regina Spektor, Gemma began writing songs in 2006 which she refined and polished while playing gigs and open mic nights across London, creating an impressive body of work and a growing band of fans.
2008 saw her take to the studio with producer Ian Shaw (who has worked with artists such as Primal Scream and Super Furry Animals) to create her debut album, Stalking For Dummies.
