The song has subsequently been covered by a number of other artists ( Sam Cooke 's cover of the song is believed to have inspired Chrissie Hynde to name her band " Pretenders ").

She was a founding member of Saffire, The Uppity Blues Women, initially formed as a duo in 1984 by Adegbalola and her guitar teacher, Ann Rabson.
