Gawain Davey is based in Melbourne, Australia. He writes piano-based songs and classical pieces. In January 2017 he released Safe At Sea on Bandcamp and Soundcloud, and in September of that year released a live recording of his choir concert "The Wayfarers".
Gawain's notable classical works include Symphony GFC, a large-scale orchestral work based on the Global Financial Crisis (reviewed in The Age), and a 2015 performance of The Middle Ground by the Melbourne Metropolitan Sinfonietta.
Gawain is currently gigging his own piano songs around Melbourne. He also plays clarinet and saxophone with Unpainted Prospects, who released their debut EP in August 2017.
He has performed on piano and vocals with Kia Hei Moon (The Moon and the Knight), saxophone with hip-hop group The Allganiks and various instruments with fluteboxer/folk-rocker Warren Howden. He was a member of The Light Rail, whose debut gig covered 90s hits for a prom. The Light Rail released their EP in May 2012.
Gawain's previous bands include ska bands Case Closed, Bendigo favourites the Nine Irons, and his high school brainchild, an oddball ensemble named Twisted Fish.
