Francois and the Atlas Mountains traveled to Africa to record this four-track EP, L’Homme Tranquille. Across ten days, they went through Benin, Ethiopia, Senegal and Burkina Faso, playing and recording with local musicians and incorporating local instruments including the guitar like ngoni and the rather cool looking balafon; a glockenspiel type instrument made of wood with balls attached to it. Check it out, it makes a great sound too. The result is an EP of great African rhythms and instrumentation.
