6 Feb 2009, 19:18 by nutriotWith his debut album set for release next week, I decided to write an in-depth article on the man Dorian Concept. Being part of the generation of beat makers, that also includes Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, Prefuse 73, Dabrye, Nosaj Thing or Dimlite, the young Austrian beatmaker has been getting airplay by Gilles Peterson, Benji B and Jay Scarlett.
This article focuses on both past and future of Dorian Concept, his less known releases, remixes for Forss or mickey eats plastic and of course his live-shows!
There's a lot to discover and even more to listen to! Continue reading..
10 Jan 2009, 13:05 by sharevariI think I must have listened to less music this year as I didn't have as many candidates this time, so I'm going to limit it to 50 tracks.
The top 50 songs I listened to in 2008
1. Jens Lekman - Sipping on the Sweet Nectar (Bogdan Irkük's Love Nectar Mix) (2008)
I think the reason I like this song so much is that it manages to combine a huge number of the aspects that I appreciate the most in music. Great pop feeling, a fantastically lush production, rich melancholic chord progressions, an insistent dance beat, sweeping strings, arpeggiated synths, italo disco flourishes and a beautiful vocal. Wait for the drop to almost complete silence at 4:57. Breathtaking.
2. E.R.P. - Vox Automaton (2007)
Sleek, futuristic and absolutely sublime modern electro. The pads that come in at 1:56 just lifts it off this planet and straight up to heaven. Don't think I will ever tire of this one.
3. Familjen - Huvudet i sanden (2007)
This song made me want to jump up and down with a silly smile…
21 Dec 2008, 20:40 by KidVectorThis mix is by no means an end of year round up, but it's certainly preoccupied with one of the emerging sounds of 2008. Hip-tronica, wonky, aqua crunk... whatever you want to call it there's no denying the momentum is with the off kilter/post Dilla knob twiddlers.
Names like Hudson Mohawke, Rustie and Flying Lotus have been reverberating around the blog-sphere all year. And with 2009 seeing debut long players for the aforementioned Hud Mo and Rustie interest is only set to intensify.
Whilst journalists wrestle with what to call this movement L.A's dublab seems to have a good take on things. 'Future Roots Music' essentially describes any music taking inspiration from the past to look into the future.
It's from that perspective that the near-future mega-tropolis of Infinity City was conceived. A place of optimism, universal humanism and heavy beats!
I hope you enjoy your stay. :)
This mix was put together for the excellent Eat Concrete Records and originally posted on their weblog. …

Yep yep.. maybe these aren't new ones for me but they are quite good.
Most of them make ambivalent or exprimental music which I have fallen into.
There's something.. maybe cause I've gotten used to hear songs without vocals.
These band doesn't require any of 'em. Wonder why?
