Love bands who make music like this. After I finish a whole listening through, I don't remember anything but the good feeling, and the thought of how good an album it was. That makes me instantly want to listen to the whole album again.
On first listen, it seems it has lost the catchiness and the pop spark that charactecised the first album. This is more mature, less rocker and more progger and closer to Transatlantic. Surprisingly, Mask Machine is the best song on first listen.
Glad some of my old favorites realize the talent in some modern singers there are out there. It's sometimes laboring to get through prog records with 40-year olds trying to belt out notes like they were 20 again. More of these projects needs to happen with incredible musicians bringing in fresh, talented young singers that aren't from the prog genre. This is fresh, and much needed in the genre.
Great first gig! I was particularly impressed by Dave LaRue's bass solo and the rendition of Odyssey. Also, how many bands play EVERY song from a new album on tour? Flying Colors can (and did) do it because EVERY song feels like a hit - incredible.
