"Criminal" focuses on the complex inner emotion of guilt and regret after making mistakes in a relationship. She talks of how she has been a "bad, bad girl" and been "careless with a delicate man" and reflects on how she "keeps living this day like the next will never come". Ultimately, she seeks redemption and understanding in the face of her actions and longs for guidance to make things right.
