Ernold Caussin (1510-1565) was a Franco-Flemish Renaissance composer. Ernold Caussin’s four-voice motet Nomine si vastus, which was published in Jacque Moderne’s Motetti del Fiore IV of 1539, was likely sung at the 1538 entry of governor Alfonso d’Avalos, Marchese del Vasto. It describes D’Avalos as descending from the seed of Bellona and Mars, praises his military prowess, and acknowledges him as Caesar’s trusted commander.
