This album was released in 1978, a new recording of the soundtrack from the 1940 movie of the same name. The music was composed by Miklós Rózsa, though another composer had originally been chosen by the producer. The producer later brought in Miklós Rózsa and put him into an office with a piano, directly adjacent to the director's office, to work on a score. After hearing Rózsa's version of a soundtrack, he slowly became convinced that he would be a better choice than the original composer.
