"over produced" is a shitty phrase to throw at an album like this, which i honestly consider to be a fantastic work of art. elliott could shine thru any type of sound, muddy or polished, beautiful soul that he was. i adore this record.
Neglected this for a while because it has such a different feel from his others. I mean, all his albums are different, hence him being good - but this one in particular, has a certain softness to it that the others don't. But now I love its softness.
there is bob dylan, and there is tom waits, but then there is elliott smith, because a generation of music is a music of a generation and listening to the dance of a life is the life of a dance of listening... ars longa, vita brevis for elliott, vita longa, ars brevis for some.
