I messaged Elend asking if they are definitely split up, Iskandar replied they're actually working on a new album since two years ago or so, but haven't release it yet because they don't have enough time (job and family issues) so at least we have a tiny hope to listen to a new Elend record in a near future.
I can't listen to their music, it tortures my mind I agree with this, especially the final album, A World in their Screams. Perhaps after Diamanda Galas' Plague Mass, this is the most painful music I have ever listened to, it just crushes my soul. True extreme music, everybody should (try to) listen at least once...
I miss them so, so much! The website seems to be down, no more updates since 2012 and neither [artist]Ensemble Orphique[/artist] nor the fantastic [artist]Redbird[/artist] released their long announced albums... This is extremely frustrating. I'm still listening to everything that Elend ever released and to the 2 sparkling songs of Redbird... I would die to listen to a new album of one of the former Elend members.
About the Elend / Arcana debate; The serenity of Baroque theme in Arcana is different from the Romantic passions and persistent Violent aesthetics in Elend ,this difference creates some substantive differences between the two bands; Also Arcana and ELend have two separate illustrations of Darkness and Silence in their musical realm.
You can hear one sample by Ensemble Orphique via [url=https://soundcloud.com/apoisontree/sets/ensemble-orphique/]Soundcloud[/url]. It seems to be a more experimenting, less classical side of Elend, an electronic continuation to "A World in their Screams". And I wouldn't compare Arcana or Elend with any of the older and bigger projects, because both band are very unique and they took their own path, this leaving the DCD basis they both claim. I could also here the similarity between Elend and the French baroque composer, Jean-Féry Rebel ("Le Cahos" from "Les Elemens et Autres Pieces").
@BrunoBasta Is this 'Ensemble orphique' Elend-like? Recommended tracks? Thx. - On Arcana. Not really similar. Arcana sounds more like a Dead Can Dance project. Whereas Elend to me, sounds more like a mix of old 3rd & the Mortal, Ataraxia and/or Stoa and even Coil, Tuxedomoon or Current 93 in some experimentations.
Elend and Arcana share alot of similarities....Im shocked you dont notice they are both neoclassical darkwave/ dark ambient..... You only have 1 scrobble...how much of Arcana have you actually listened to?
@kasra-be : well there's nothing more to expect from Last.fm the same as other virtual communities; the Idea of listening and relating to music( for me living) is buried under the idea of communicating and having the appearance! similarities here are based on the interests of the scrobblers not a critically sorted genres by strong ears.
People live in a community [...] from which the man outside the community, the “man without peace,” is excluded—a German understands what “misery” [Elend] or êlend [other country] originally means. - Nietzsche - On the Geneaology of Morality.
I wonder if their name was inspired by this quote. Even disregarding the author and his ideologies completely, and focusing on the aesthetic value of these words, I can see how it could have been an inspiration related to their first circle.
Ah... The Luciferian Revolution is just gorgeous, one of the best wonders that my ears have listened... obviously one of the best tracks of Elend, words can't express well what I feel when I listen to it and then how I feel in love with it...
