Electrobuddha is a one man outfit and the brainchild of Scotsman Mark Hamilton McCaffer. Described by the Glasgow Daily Record as The Scissor Sisters meets The Beta Band and Rolling Stones with Jimi Hendrix and James Brown on decks!
Electrobuddha started out life in a small home studio in Solna, Stockholm. Mark was working as a stagehand in the city and so was regularly seeing bands night after night and gaining ideas to put into his own music. He particularly liked bands like Sweden's Soundtrack of Our Lives and other bands like Air as well as more retro sounds of 60's Californians Love. He tried to make a combination of these sounds fusing it with a dancey background drumbeat and rocking guitars.
First song created was Spaceracejunky and Mark went on to write his first D.I.Y. album Bleep, Whirr, Disco! It received good reviews on his return to Scotland with standout tracks such as Cecilia's Garden, Loser Blues and Dancefloorlover.
It was however, to be a few years more when Mark decided to put a band together and in 2012 Mark advertised on Facebook and online site Gumtree for members. Electrobuddha played the Glasgow circuit for a few years before Mark relocated east to Edinburgh then as now back to his hometown of Airdrie.
Mark recently completed his fifth album called 'Roller Disco' which was entered into the Scottish Album of the Year Awards in 2019. Mark i currently undertaking an MA in Song-writing at University of West of Scotland at their Ayr Campus.
