Effi Briest

I know comparing an all-female band to another all-female band is lazy, but Effi Briest gets really close to the same energy that makes Warpaint such a great band.

I hear more Amon Düül II than Siouxsie. Definitely a big post-punk influence, too, but only in a general sense.

Who cares who influences who I mean why are people so hung up on if a band sounds like another band. If ya ask me that's a good thing when a musician tries to emulate someone they like while adding there own twist it to. Everyone is going to sound like a mix of this this and that. No one sounds truly original with no influences from no where.

Really hope they grace us with new material someday

i hear next to no Siouxsie and the Banshees in this.... absolutely baffled that people would make that comparison!

they're both female singers and they both sound more than okay. That's where the comparison with siouxsie stops.

It's always a bit diluted when slapping a 'sounds like Siousxie ' label on a young band. I agree their sound does carry some of the tribalism and vocal stylings of the Banshees but to me I hear more Nico, Bunnymen, x-mal and Cranes influences in their sound.

Yeah, Rhizomes is a great album, pretty much underrated. Good production, vocals, feminin touching, desperate atmosphere... i don't know

god, but why are they so underrated? Rhizomes was brilliant, just a perfect album.

I wonder if people still think about them as Siouxsie rip offs now that Warpaint are big. They were and are my proto-Warpaint and I love their sound. They are the missing link to Electrelane for me.

no idea why it has become so outstandingly fashionable these days to compare just about everything to this couple of old siouxsie lps. but i'm still wondering if perhaps someone might take note of the really heavy dub and krautmotorik vibes on that album instead. that's what it's all about here. i mean, listen to that bass, kids! siouxsie my ass.

Effi Briest and Mirror Rim and the newlyweds song are probably one of the best girls riots that we've ever heard since The slits and Delta 5. I love these NY Based girls.

Mirror Rim = 7 of the year! Can't wait to see them...
