DonkeyBox is a British alternative rock band from London. They formed in 2002 at Imperial College London and instantly caught the attention of the student population with their anthemic singalongs. After leaving the university scene they recorded their first demo EP Backstage Pass in June 2007. Through the newfound power of social networking they started building a fanbase well beyond their home ground by simply mailing out free CDs to friends in the US. This personal touch in an age where music is promoted by the touch of a button was very refreshing to their supporters.

Initially the band started gigging as 6am, later resorting to the name DonkeyBox in December 2002. In November 2004, they were dubbed as "Imperial College's most dangerous band" after rebellious moshing and carnage broke out at their students' union and union security failed to contain the crowd at the fully packed venue. Their live and energetic performance had left an indelible mark on those who were there on the night and capitalising on the PR effect the band moved forward.

Although the band has had numerous line-up changes, founder Atul Rana and lead guitarist Matthew Jones have been there right from the start. Martin Ewart joined later on bass and Greg Pedder joined the band on drums. Both drummer and bassist also played in another college band earlier.
