"I remember thinking, 'We're really onto something here.'" - "Come On Eileen" was a colossal '80s hit, but Dexys Midnight Runners released just three albums before their split. Now, Dexys is back. Frontman Kevin Rowland and trombonist Jim Paterson chatted with us about their long-in-the-making fourth album, One Day I'm Going to Soar, and how they came up with "Eileen": http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/dexys_kevin_rowland_and_jim_paterson_/
Does anyone know the name of the song played in a video that I just saw (featured as a 'fill' at Other Voices festival 'live' streaming from Dingle) where Kevin Rowland is wearing hat, sang with very pretty woman doing almost a drama/song about a guy named Kevin who jilted her. Loved it, and need to know the title of song.
I didn't know this group was more than a one-hit wonder until recently when I saw a couple of their albums on a "best albums" list. I was like, "Wait, you mean they have other good songs? Why didn't I know this sooner?" Stupid, I know. There's so much music out there. It's hard to find the time to sample it all. I'm glad I made the time to look into their full library because they absolutely have other songs as good as Eileen.
I'd known Come on Eileen before I watched "Perks..." but the movie reminded me of it. It's also a bit strange for me that lots of people heard it in this movie for the first time ever but it's good they did at all.
