Stakes get higher. I'd say 1985 resulted in some exponentially more influential albums than the previous year. Atleast as far as my own collection goes.
Anthrax - Spreading the Disease
If I ever really had to choose between this one and Megadeth's debut album from the same year, I would probably let fanboy emotions get the better of me and go with the latter without even blinking an eye. Yet when putting both of them under the critical microscope I think Spreading The Disease etches out Killing Is My Business by a clear margin. Anthrax simply had their shit together much better (not blowing your studio budget on drugs helps a lot) and put out a more cohesive effort. First album with the "classic" lineup and it sounds like their hungry for success. Can't go wrong when half the songs are considered fan favorites today and the other half balance the album out nicely.
