I was just a kid and had no idea what the hell a Stiv Bators was when I first heard this song done by Eddie Vedder. I loved how a lot of those 90s rock bands would school the younger generation to what was cool. Kurt would cover some Fang or Devo or namedrop Scratch Acid or Big Black and I'd dig around and discover new shit. Pearl Jam's version still holds up pretty well.
Well, I guess you could call it a cover, just one of some of the members' old band (if you like Dead Boys, you owe it to yourself to at least check out Rocket from the Tombs). More of an inheritance. MC5 definitely had NOTHING to do with this song, though, other than probz provide some influence.
