De Specials (not to be confused with The Specials) was a Dutch party band, fronted by Bert Tinge and perhaps best known for a string of party hits for football teams and Dutch sports heroes from 1969 onwards.
De Specials were established in the Dutch town of Lemmer. Bert Tinge was originally from the village of Oudehaske. He later moved to Leek and Zevenhuizen, all small villages in the North-East of The Netherlands. The line-up was, at some point, completed by Piet Vorenholt, Adri Hogenbirk and Giorgie Chivera.
De Specials' most succesful year was probably 1971, the year in which they released party songs celebrating the sports triumphs of ice-skaters Jan Bols ('Heya Jan Bols'), Ard Schenk ('Ard, die heeft de wereldcup), Ajax ('Ajax heeft de Wereldcup') and Johan Cruijff ('Cruyffie, oh Cruyffie'). They also wrote and recorded 'FC Groningen, laat ons weer eens juichen' (1974), which became the official club anthem of FC Groningen.
De Specials also released songs that were not sports-related.
