When talking thrash, the only "big four" bands that are still relevant today are Anthrax and Megadeth. Slayer and Metallica are just a shell of what they used to be, although I can still enjoy Repentless, while Hardwired just sucks imo.
@wormsaiboty Metallica is a joke of a band. Don't make me laugh. They released nothing but mainstream garbage. And Justice for all is great, RTL is so-so, Kill them all is good, MOP is a piece of shit of an album. It's not an album; it's an embarrassment. The Teutonic four (German trash), TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, Megadeth, Slayer, and the bay thrash area shits on them and James Hetfield knows that very well.
It's 10 years since I first heard DD now. I was a full-blown thrasher in 2006 and when I found Dark Angel, I was mindblown. Still the most intense thrash I've ever heard, and some of the very best as well.
I had a brief (superior) crush with Leave Scars at some point as well. It's a great record, but my love for DD came back later on. Time Does Not Heal never did much for me though. Too many riffs going on for my taste. I'm more for a "minimalistic" approach with one or two good and driving riffs.
What I personally don't like with "Time Does Not Heal" is the structuring. I mean, I love the riffing and there certainly are a whole lot of them, but I just don't like the songs' structures. I guess I'm just more into patterns and stuff, like the songs on Darkness Descends where riffs play important roles. To me, that also makes riffs more significant and powerful.

Good to see the love for Doty's vocals, Darkness Descends is by far the bands best. Looking at the charts here, it's listened to three times as much as the Rinehart albums, can't help but think they reformed with the wrong guy!
