2006 – 2011 (5 years)
Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
Dananananaykroyd are an all-or-nothing scrapey guitar rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. 2 electric guitars, 2 drums, 1 bass, 1 vocals and a live show of clattering, shambolic funtimes since 2006.
They are David Roy (guitar), James Hamilton (drums), John Baillie Jnr (drums), Laura Donaghey (bass), Duncan Robertson (guitar) and Calum Gunn (vocals).
Railing against the archetypal Glasgow scenester seemingly intent on standing stock–still at gigs and exhibiting the least amount of enthusiasm possible…whilst sporting the haircut du jour, studying Franz B–sides and trying their hardest not to smile…they started making music. The results post Dananananaykroyd as an antidote to everything posed, packaged and poised in the current world of Indie Rock (or "Fight Pop" as the band call it). Despite the diverse influences they stake a claim to (everything from the indie–rock, hardcore and post–rock of Sebadoh, Pavement, Superchunk, Sonic Youth, Rodan, Fugazi and Rocket From The Crypt to the intricate guitarplay and droned out grooves of Hood, Jim O’Rourke, Mice Parade and Stereolab), they’re raw as you like.
In late 2006, Giles Bailey quit as Dananananaykroyd’s vocalist. Callum moved from drums to vocals, and new boy John took over the drum stool.
