Some background information on Ryan Phillip Gaynor as a DJ (Written Summer 2009):
Ryan Gaynor, aka DJ RPG, is a college student at Rochester Institute of Technology who mixes predominately trance and progressive music in his spare time for an iTunes Podcast. His podcast has been available on iTunes since September of 2007, and has been continually improving since its introduction. He has also performed at RIT events such as College Activities Board's Glow in the Dark Dance Party and The Anime Club's Tora-Con Festival.
Over the last couple years, Ryan has connected with other DJs and artists in the dance music industry, such as Randy Boyer (Armada Music, Vandit, Flashover Recordings, Istmo Music, Levare Recordings), Mike Saint-Jules (Flashover Recordings, Euphonic Records, Levare Recordings) , Nick Murray (Loverush Digital, Nemesis, Metallic Recordings), Stevie Cripps (Colorful Recordings), The Blizzard (Armada Music, A State of Trance, Anjunabeats), and DJ Addison (Rotation Podcast on iTunes), to showcase artist talent on his show. He has also promoted a few very talented college students with their 1-hour guest mixes. A few of his mixes have been featured on electronic dance music shows, such as Randy Boyer's BUZZ Featuring Rush Hour on Connecticut's KISS 95.7 FM, DJ Addison's Rotation Podcast, The AV Brother's Official Trance Podcast, and Danny Chen's Trance Fixation Podcast. He is also the president of a student-run club at RIT called "The RIT EDM Club," where he leads many college DJs, producers, and other students in discovering and creating electronic dance music. In the spring of 2008, the club made a partnership with RIT's FM radio station, 89.7 WITR, for a Friday Night EDM Mix show. The premier episode of the club's show, Synchronicity Sessions, was mixed by Ryan. The RIT EDM club collaborates with major student organizations on campus to co-sponsor electronic dance music events during the academic year.
On the production side of electronic dance music, Ryan has made a quite a few "mashups" in the past few months, which are tracks that result from mixing multiple songs and vocal stems together. He has experience with music production software, and is thinking of creating original songs or remixes of others' work in the near future.
