I like D'arcy for her bass playing, but I think she'd be much better as a backing singer. She's an alright bassist, but could be replaced easily, I heard she couldn't do the Siamese Dream tracks, so Billy had to. She had a really nice voice in the acoustic version of Cherub Rock, which was as great as the original version. She should get back to music and clean up that drug problem. She was pretty, though.
I am sentimental for the original lineup too although not for any rational reason. D'Arcy is, sadly, the only unnecessary person of the group. Actually her singing voice would have been of far greater use to the band (for variety's sake) than her bass playing. Billy's ego is the real issue here, and the reason they were never actually a proper "band" and thus never became immortal...he never had a foil who would stand up to him.
Not as good without her? Are you kidding me? She was a mediocre bassist at best. Sure, she brought a certain aesthetic dynamic to the band but she was easily replaceable. Even Corgan himself was a better bassist.
It is funny to see a Pumpkins concert these days. Corgan has look-alikes for Iha and D'arcy playing with them. They are obviously chosen for their look and not their talent. I know Corgan played all the parts on the album but where did she go?!?
