Corey Bapes was born in New Orleans (9th Ward), Louisiana on July 14. He later moved to Cleveland,Ohio with his mom and sister at age 10. Always interested in rap it wasn't long before Corey started freestyling with a group of friends and fellow rappers called the "The Ave Click". Corey later started hitting studios with “The Ave Click” which led to a meeting between him and label head Big Truth. "Corey was charismatic and had swagger, and immediately spotted the potential in him"..says Truth. Corey's career started out slow but was destined to take off and it did with a bang!!!!..Corey eventually signed to Big Truth's indie label The Truth Entertainment and under the tutalidge of Truth, Corey started rocking shows and engraving himself in his fans heads with his signature phrase "Hold Up". After packing clubs and the release of the most successful solo rap artist album in Cleveland history- “In A Class of My Own”, he was offered a record deal with a fledgling but upcoming record label Defient Entertainment/Warner Music Group.

While signed with Defient he performed in several states "elbow to elbow" with some of Hip Hops elite artist having his listening parties hosted by Dj Khaled (Def Jam) and New Jersey Devil (Game's Dj) at 2007's Ozone Awards in Miami Florida. Unfortunately the deal fell through do to financial problems experienced by the label. Meanwhile he kept rocking show and till this day is still one of Ohio's biggest artist with a fan base unmatched by any other local artist. Corey B is a crowd favorite upon children, teens, and young and old adults love him. Uh Hold Uuuuuupppp!!!!!

Corey was voted by his fans across the state of Ohio as "Best New Artist" & “Best Live Performance Artist" at the 2007 Ohio Hip Hop Awards and "Best Live Performance Artist" again in 2008 proving that in Ohio his energy and presence on stage is unrivaled. Corey is still working with no end in site and at age 19 he only can get better. "Its hard to get out of Cleveland even though it's alot of talent here" says Mr Bapes…but with a style that can get your blood pumping.

Corey Bapes first release album, hit the street like fire. The album release party took place on July 14, 2007 at Peabody’s Downunder. It was also Corey’s 18th birthday celebration. Local hip hop rap artists came to wish Corey great success on his 1st new album but also happy birthday. From this album, came club bangers like “ Bout My Dough” and “ Throed ”.

Corey’s Second Album, “Corey Bapes Hold Up” Volume 1 produced another club banger which got continuaneous play on WZIP 88.1 Akron, Ohio radio station. “Like Maaaannnneeennnneeee!!!” and “Hold Up Get Straight” set the radio waves a blaze. It only broaden the scope of Corey Bapes fan base to split the cultural divide. Performing at high school homecoming and also at the Rock Roll Hall of Fame for charity group.

1st Semester, Corey B. Most recent CD, holds the hits “ Get 2 Class” and “Get Money”, shows that Corey Bapes still is hitting the mike and his flow is still icey. Corey Bapes still performs all over the state of Ohio….. and still finds time to mentor trouble youth and attend Cuyahoga Community College
