Biography

Charlie & The Wideboys (also spelled as Charlie & The Wide Boys) were a British rock band from Cornwall, United Kingdom. They were big on the early 1970s pub rock scene. They recorded an album's worth of material for Anchor Records in 1974, but only a 7-inch single ('Gilly I Do' plus three other songs) was released before the band were dropped. The album recording session was eventually released by Music For Pleasure in 1976.

Personnel: Charlie Ainley, Greg Phillips, Guy Evans, Nigel Chappell, Richard Worthy, Simon Fraser.

Please note that the name of this band may also be spelled as Charlie & The Wide Boys. The spelling on the sleeve of the 'Gilly I Do' single was Wide Boys, but on the sleeve of the 1976 LP we find the Wideboys spelling.
