Ceitidh Mac blends the warming tones of the cello and mellow vocals to create a transformative sound that puts a progressive twist on the genre.

Originally from Wales, but now based in Newcastle, Ceitidh’s honest and intriguing lyrics have been mesmerising audiences in the know across the UK. While the folk influence is prominent in her songs, the smoky style and lo-fi studio sound combines with a contemporary electronic edge, embellished by unusual instrumentation. Her live show is a innovative take on traditional and alternative folk songs, sitting alongside her own original material which explores topics ranging from illuminating everyday experiences to subjects of deeper self reflection.

Backed by Will Hammond and Jamie Cook the musical progressions and inventive cello melodies are bolstered by synth hooks, strong rhythmic riffs and the unique sounds of the vibraphone to build a transfixing live atmosphere which draws the audience in.

Having opened for the likes of Lankum and Laura Misch, Ceitidh Mac has also played with a range of North East Musicians such as Martha Hill and Faye MacCalman. With a busy year ahead of her, including festival slots and live shows across the UK, Ceitidh Mac will soon be releasing her debut single “Rhythm”.
