Having really enjoyed the catchy punkiness of The Spade, I wasn't sure what to expect from Afraid Of Ghosts. What a difference! And what an amazing album. There is not a note, not a lyric, wasted. Butch Walker has gone his own way, and I, for one, am so happy to follow. I'm only sorry that this music had to be born out of such a sad time.
Butch said he was going to announce dates in the spring about a west coast tour for the Spade because they didn't do a tour to promote it here, and now it's summer and he never did. This makes for a sad Amber ):
Got some cool pictures from the Ho Ho Hotel Cafe Christmas show: http://www.flickr.com/photos/amberrosedoe/ (alecia/p!nk is in a few of them too, I was right up front and she stood next to me during his set after she sang with him haha)
'joan' is super depressing & i can't make myself listen to it! and the lyrics to 'mixtape' are really juvenile. i feel like a 6th-grader wrote that song. way too simple for me! every other song on 'letters' is wonderful. great to listen in the car on a sunny day with the windows down. <3
