Forget about what's "hot" in music right now. Forget about the plague of young men and women sweeping the nation, using the same mold to forge their cookie-cutter songs. Forget about men in suits telling their "hip" clients to rewrite their music, so they can turn a more profit and lose another notch on their belts. Now, envision a simple concept: truly talented musicians coming together for a single purpose- to create funky, heartfelt music. Just funky soulful music to inspire thought and emotion. Bus Stop Stallions is the experience that music has been waiting for. Bus Stop Stallions will make you feel.
Formed in Austin in 2006 , The Bus Stop Stallions have already accomplished quite a bit for an unsigned band. In 2007 they embarked on a tour of the western states, including California where they played the Mint in LA, Winston's in San Diego and Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco, as well as venues in Fresno, Sacramento, Eureka, Portland, and Pueblo, CO.
They are currently recording a new album and have upcoming shows in Austin at The Saxon Pub and in Corpus Christi at Dr. Rockit's. Recently they have played in Austin at La Zona Rosa, Momo's, and Antone's. In 2008 they played at many venues around Austin, including Speakeasy, Light Bar, Aces Lounge, Beso Cantina, Room 710, Headhunters, and RutaMaya.
Always involved in the Austin community, they have played at the Austin Convention Center during a Texas Lonestar Rollergirls bout; on Fox TV's Good Day Austin morning show; at The Austin Music Hall for the United Sounds of Austin: Las Nubes of Hope, Harmony and Peace concert; at Kenny Dorham's Backyard for the Black Star Coop Brewery; and at Scholz Garten for the Blues for Blue Skies benefit.
The Bus Stop Stallions give a new life to the nostalgic days of 70's and 80's funk-soul, while giving an extra push with some pure, unadulterated rock and roll. With influences such as Sly and the Family Stone and Stevie Wonder, they have time-warped the sound into what some call "James Brown 3000". Whether it is the band's original songs or innovative renditions of certain classic cover songs, the crowds can't help but move their feet. Performing live music is a what drives this band, and it shows in their performances. Their passion for playing live leads to shows that are each unique and dynamic instead of playing the same exact set night after night. The band's familiarity with one another and skills on their respective instruments allows them to improvise live without losing their audience's attention span.
